Apart from being an important access control solution, fingerprint technology is now also used to monitor employee time and attendance. Whereas in the past access cards would have been used simply to enter or exit specific areas where monitoring could take place to establish how many hours the employee has worked, it is now possible to have more control. Instead of having a card swiped that may be stolen or borrowed by another employee to prevent management from accurate assessment of the whereabouts of the employee, fingerprint technology is used. With fingerprint technology an employee cannot borrow another person’s card and with specific verification, identification, and authentication technologies in place, accurate control can be asserted.
