Biometric security has evolved tremendously over the past few years to the level that it can now be used at train stations, airports, and private companies alike. The future of biometric security looks great. More and more private and public centres use biometric security not only to restrict access to specific resources and areas, but also connect the biometric security with databases containing the details of persons who should not be allowed access to the area. Once a person enters the building and has his or her fingerprint scanned, an alarm can be sounded in the control room or security centre. The person can thus be apprehended before a major security breech takes place. Although this may seem an invasion of privacy, it has become necessary to prevent criminals or suspects from entering facilities where they can cause harm to others or a company.
