biometric fingerprint

Biometric fingerprint scanning involves a process of authentication, which in turn entails matching the fingerprint data from the individual with that of the data already in the system. The data is thus compared with the record of the individual’s biometric fingerprint scan which was originally done to create a template. In addition it also involves comparison of the data on an ID card or a PIN number with the biometric fingerprint data of the individual already scanned into the system. Apart from authentication the process can also involve identification where the template of the biometric fingerprint data is compared to all the records in the system for closest match to that of the user. This type of biometric fingerprint identification is used in a one to many relationship.
