Access control in contemporary society

Where access control in the past mainly entailed either a security point where a security officer would grant access to an area of the building or entailed the swiping of a simple magnetic tape card to have a door opened, modern day technology has made it possible to offer advanced access control solutions.

IDTek as supplier of access control solutions focuses on two main types:

  • Fingerprint technology
  • Proximity control

Fingerprint technology

Fingerprint access falls under biometric control and entails that a system recognizes specific physical features of the person wanting access to an area. The physical attributes are matched with that in the memory of the system and if there is a perfect match, will the person then be allowed to enter or exit.

Proximity control

This method allows for a complete building solution. We offer advanced technologies that can be integrated with fingerprint technology through the use of smart cards which store the authority level of the person and areas where the person may enter etc. It can also be integrated with a payroll solution to ensure not only security and protection of company information as well as resources, but also ensures that the exact movement of an employee can be traced and the information thus applied for payroll purposes.

As part of proximity control we offer IT based security surveillance where the areas are monitored through cameras attached to a network which can be wireless. This allows for real time monitoring of areas, archiving of footage, and the ability to search specific time slots.

Door control is another area where we ensure full access control through doors where either fingerprints or swipe smart cards must be used to gain access.
