Analog surveillance replaced by digital security
monitoring
We offered
clients the ability to monitor specific locations
within a building or on outside of the building.
One of the disadvantages of analog
surveillance that had to be overcome
was that of cost regarding manpower, installation,
extension of the system and of course also
storage of the recordings.
Previously a control room would be in place
and needed to be manned. Limited scalability
was offered and although a step in the right
direction, analog surveillance simply
could not offer the flexibility, quality of
imaging, retrieval possibilities, and storage
capacity of digital network based security
monitoring systems.
The more conventional CCTV cameras are ideal
for monitoring static areas where the camera
is mounted and only required to monitor a specific
parameter. Once light conditions change or
movement settings have to be applied, the system
simply cannot deliver what is required. With
digital monitoring it is possible to auto schedule
recording. In addition the settings allow for
movement only monitoring where movement caused
by rain and other weather elements are excluded.
This is particularly important as footage time
is reduced while also eliminating false alerts.
It was difficult to monitor multiple locations,
especially several buildings at a time and
with additional equipment, cabling and storage
facilities required just to run the video and
audio monitoring, the cost was high. It meant
that only larger companies could deploy full
scale CCTV monitoring. With advances in technology
the costs of installation, maintenance, manning,
storage and also expansion have been reduced.
Smaller companies and even home owners can
now afford to install advanced systems for
parameter monitoring. Get the best of analog
surveillance and get rid of the disadvantages
by converting to digital network based security
monitoring. View our list of access control

camera solutions on the products page.
